Cross country ski trails will be officially opened on Calumet Island Sunday: Alexander Tremblay, in charge of the building of cross country ski trails on Calumet Island, using a federal government LIP grant, has announced that the first 25 miles of this trail will be officially opened on Sunday afternoon.

It is to be noted that these new trails, through some of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas of Pontiac county, are not for snowmobiles but exclusively for the use of skiers.

Ladysmith Snogoers annual snowmobile rally: On Sunday, the Ladysmith R.A. Snogoers held their annual Family Snowmobile Rally. The weather was crisp, frosty and sunny, ideal for snowmobiling.

Over 60 entries took part. They started off at the T.C.R.A. Center. The trail of about thirty miles led north through scenic bushland to Range Lake, then west across country and then south to form a loop ending again at the center.

The trail was very well marked and groomed under the efficient supervision of Mr. Clarence Bretzlaff, who with his helpers, had spent days getting this trail in shape.

Hot meals were served at the T.C.R.A. Center to end the day.

The winners of the event were: Larry Hitz, Brian Jones, Ernie Morgan and Bob Spears, Mavis Morgan and Delmer Draper, Clarie Spears, Joan Draper, and Gilbert Cluff.
